Miriam Ohana, a.k.a “Mimi”

M.S. CCC-SLP

Hello and welcome to Mimi & Me Speech Therapy!

My name is Miriam Ohana, and I am a licensed speech-language pathologist. I am deeply committed to supporting your child’s communication development with a warm and nurturing therapeutic approach. My goal is to work closely with you and your child's care team to create personalized treatment plans, that encourage your child’s growth and help them reach their fullest potential.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from the University of California, Irvine and a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from California State University, Northridge.

Throughout my professional career, I developed extensive experience evaluating and treating children ages 0 to 18 years, with a variety of speech and language impairments. My expertise includes early intervention, articulation and phonology disorders, expressive and receptive language delays, childhood apraxia of speech, auditory processing disorders, and pragmatic language disorders.

In addition to direct client care, I have had the privilege of supervising Clinical Fellows through their licensure process and mentoring graduate students. I am trained in PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) and Oral Placement Therapy, and I am also a certified provider of More than Words through the Hanen Centre.

Prior to my speech career, I spent 6 years as a special education assistant in the Beverly Hills Unified School District and taught English abroad in Madrid for a year. These experiences ignited my passion for helping children learn, express their needs, and form meaningful friendships.

I look forward to hearing from you soon to offer my support and guidance towards building a supportive partnership with you and your child!

  • Is your child behind in reaching speech and language milestones?

  • Do you or others have difficulty understanding your child?

  • Does your child have trouble understanding language or following directions?

  • Does your child struggle with certain sounds beyond the expected age?

  • Does your child have difficulty following a conversation or interacting with peers?

Most speech sounds develop between ages 2 and 7. Speech sound milestones serve as a general guide to help assess whether a child's speech development is on track!
